WELCOME > HELLO! I'm Pops, she/her, 25+. This is a portrayal of Harold Ramis' Egon Spengler from the Ghostbusters franchise. The first two films will be covered, with some EU references, but I'll be almost entirely avoiding Afterlife/Frozen Empire for now.
EXCLUSIVITY > This blog is HIGHLY SELECTIVE and MUTUALS ONLY. I hate to lay down a rule such as this, but I need to purely for the sake of my sanity. If I follow you, then I want to write with you! If I don't follow back, it's simply because I can't see a potential interaction, and I promise it's nothing personal.
AGE/ETIQUETTE GUIDANCE > The usual ettiquette applies - no godmodding, rape, non-con, dub-con, incest, etc. Given who I'm writing, there will be heavy topics such as death, the undead, the occult, magick & witchcraft, and others mentioned frequently. Thus, this is a strictly 18+ space. I will not follow/follow back if you're a minor, nor if you don't have your age clearly stated somewhere easily accessible on your site.
CROSSOVERS/OCS > Yes please to both! Egon has a multiverse verse and is pretty malleable. For OC children of Egon, however, please discuss with me in IM before we interact. As for anyone writing Callie Spengler, Afterlife/Frozen Empire does not form part of my Egon's canon, but get in touch regardless.
SHIPPING/NSFW > This blog is multiship, but romantic ships won't be a priority. Any romantic ships must be plotted first, especially given that Egon is at least 34 in his main verse and no younger than 19 in his college verse - I won't entertain ships with minors, or with a potential age gap that makes me uncomfortable. Smut will be rare, given Egon's demi status. However, any NSFW material will be tagged "USFW", and under a cut if it's something I'm writing myself.
FACECLAIMS > Due to Harold's passing in 2014 he is now classed as a DECEASED FC. If you want to interact but would rather I forego using his likeness in threads, by all means, let me know. As for other people's FCs, chances are I won't interact if the FC in question has been linked with problematic behaviour.

As is perhaps to be expected from a man as reserved and guarded as Egon Spengler, relatively little is known about his life.A descendant of Polish immigrants, Egon's upbringing can be easily called strict and authoritative in nature - in his own words, his parents "didn't believe in toys", foregoing most conventions and instead focusing on making sure that Egon and his brother Elon (whose existence has yet to be confirmed by the man himself) excelled academically. Egon, on his part, would indeed go on to become a genius (though his performance would never be good enough for his father, Malachai) and complete school by the age of thirteen, finishing college and enrolling at university at age fifteen. He would go on to completely cut off both parents.Egon had finished his first PhD, Physics, when he was eighteen years old, and went on to complete at least two more after that - Microbiology, and, likely his most prominent, Parapsychology. For his lattermost thesis, he focused on the phenomenon of Psychokinetic Energy, compiling perhaps the most detailed and comprehensive work on it, its behaviour and uses, thus becoming arguably the world's foremost expert on the concept. He, together with his friends Dr. Ray Stantz and Dr. Peter Venkman, was instrumental in allowing Parapsychology - and Paranormal Studies as a whole - into mainstream academia, and it was for this reason that they each became Professors at Columbia University. Egon's academic achievements don't stop there, for he has completed several more qualifications, most notably Nuclear Engineering - knowledge that would prove to be vital when it came to his later endeavours with the Ghostbusters.His dismissal from the role of Professor, and the subsequent formation of Ghostbusters Inc. has been well-documented - however, what is perhaps less widely known is the fact that Egon was responsible for creating and building the most recognizable equipment used by the Inc - the PKE Meter (his first invention, built while he was studying for his Parapsychology PhD), the Proton Pack and the Ghost Trap, all made possible thanks to Egon's understanding of Nuclear Engineering. He has since patented them in order to prevent imitations.Outside of his professional work, Egon is a far more obscure character. Quiet at the best of times, he has often ignored or even shunned the publicity brought about as a result of the Ghostbusters' work in New York City, much preferring to remain in his lab. A known insomniac, he is said to get no more than fourteen minutes worth of sleep a day - something he substitutes with an intense sugar addiction, almost never allowing himself to go anywhere without a Crunch Bar or Twinkie in his pocket, Despite this, his commitment to his work is undeniable, and he is a firm friend to those he considers close. Beware, though - he is known for possessing a short temper, and will fly off the handle and make his anger known if provoked enough.Determined to make sure that there is never such a thing as boredom present in his life, Egon remains a trusted, loyal and dedicated soul, one who will stop at nothing for answers, the truth, and justice.

When there's something strange in the neighbourhood, who are you going to call? Known throughout the country - and the rest of the world - as an emerging and promising force for good against what is now becoming a growing problem, Egon and his friends are finding themselves busier than they ever thought possible, but they don't mind - after all, they're there for ALL Earth's supernatural elimination needs...This is Egon's main verse - so, unless stated or agreed otherwise, all threads and asks will be tagged into this by default..

Why remain just on ONE planet when there is an entire multiverse to explore? Armed with a Vortex Manipulator, Egon now has a means of traversing the cosmos at will - coming face to face with the wonders - and dangers - that she has to offer. After all, in an infinite plane of existence such as this, there are ALWAYS going to be spooks, spectres and ghosts of a very different kind to apprehend...
With influence taken from the Doctor Who universe, this verse is extended to any historical-based fandom, any intergalactic/sci-fi fandom that exists outside of Earth, and any fandom in which there's a chance the Ghostbusters don't exist as real people. EDIT: An FYI that the multiverse DOES exist in Ghostbusters EU canon.

Long before he became a Ghostbuster, Egon Spengler dedicated his youth to the pursuit of science. Graduating from Columbia University at the age of fifteen, he would go on to spend the next ten years as a committed student, traveling through Europe and obtaining three PhDs before being invited to become a Professor of Paranormal Studies at Columbia University.This verse seeks to document this period, beginning just before he obtained his Physics PhD, aged nineteen, to just before he finished his Parapsychology PhD, aged twenty-five.> I WOULDN'T SAY THE EXPERIENCE WAS COMPLETELY WASTED (PROFESSOR).
It’s well-known that, prior to his days busting Ghosts, Egon Spengler was a Professor of Parapsychology at Columbia University. He remained so for a number of years, before ultimately being dismissed as a result of the department’s grant termination. Nevertheless, he has maintained numerous fond memories of this point in his life - and he’s even invited back to Columbia every once in a while, or elsewhere, in order to utilise and share his extensive knowledge of science and the paranormal.
This verse seeks to cover his experiences as a teacher, from his time at Columbia before his Ghostbusting years, to his occasional return to academia in the present day, offering his professional teaching services in whatever way they’re needed.> PRINT IS DEAD (COMIC).
The same Egon Spengler we all know and love - he just looks a little...different. Aimed primarily at comic and/or animated character interactions, here is Egon in his cartoon format.
